How to fix your business listing on YellowPages.com
YellowPages.com, owned by Thryv, still ranks for many "near me" searches and is copied by smaller directories. NAPCHKR finds your YP listing through Google search results and compares the details Google shows, so once you fix the listing it can take a few days for the audit to catch up.
Correct the listing without claiming it
- Find your listing on yellowpages.com by searching your business name and city.
- On the listing page choose Suggest an edit and submit the corrected Business name, Address, Phone and Website, copied from your Google Business Profile.
- YP reviews suggestions before publishing them; allow a week or two.
Claim the listing to manage it yourself
- On the listing page choose Claim this business and create a free account using an email on your business domain. The "claim your listing" pages elsewhere on yellowpages.com are sales pages for paid profiles; the free claim starts from the listing itself.
- Verify by phone call to the number on the listing. If the listed number is wrong, customer care can verify you another way and link the listing to your account.
- Once claimed, edit the details from your account and publish. Most edits are live within a few days.
Claiming usually triggers a sales call from Thryv about paid products. The free listing does not depend on buying anything, so decline if you are not interested.
Common problems
- Old listings for a previous address or phone. Use the Report or Suggest an edit link on the stale listing to flag it as closed or duplicate, or ask YP customer care to merge it into your claimed listing.
- The listing shows a tracking number. Paid YP advertising sometimes substitutes a call-tracking number, which every other directory then disagrees with. Ask for the real number to be displayed, or at least make sure the tracking number forwards to the right line.
- The claim will not attach to your account. This is a known glitch; customer care can link a verified claim to your login manually.
Check it worked
When the change is live, run a fresh NAP audit. NAPCHKR finds your YellowPages listing through Google search results and compares the phone number Google shows for it, so the row should read Phone matches with no duplicate flag. Name, address and website on YellowPages are not compared automatically: open the listing from the row and check those by eye. Google can take a few days to re-crawl the page after you edit it.
